‘Fantastic Four’ Director Matt Shackman Discusses Bringing Galactus Into the MCU

While Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will seemingly serve as the main antagonist in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, he is not the only classic Marvel villain set to debut in the MCU.
In the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s First Family will face Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds.
True to his name, Galactus is a cosmic entity that must consume the life energy of planets to survive. A longtime enemy of the Fantastic Four, Galactus is one of the most feared beings in the cosmos.

While Galactus appeared as a talking cloud in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the upcoming First Steps will be the first time in live-action that the character is depicted in a comic-accurate way.
Bringing Galactus to Life
Director Matt Shackman will have his work cut out for him to bring a character of Galactus’ stature to live-action. The director knows that he has to “go big.”
“I love Galactus,” told ComicBook.com. “You know, when you’ve got Galactus, you gotta go big or go home, as you can see.”

True to Shackman’s word, the first clip of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which was previewed at last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, showed Galactus peering into a skyscraper.
Ralph Ineson Will Portray the Character
The task of bringing Galactus to life, however, will fall to actor Ralph Ineson.
Reacting to Shackman’s comments, Ineson quipped, “Go big or go home is a hell of a note.”

Based on everything that we have heard about The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Galactus will seemingly have a massive impact on the future of the MCU.
However, how exactly Shakman and Ineson bring the character to life remains to be seen.
