Benedict Bridgerton will lead ‘Bridgerton’ season four, it’s confirmed

Bridgerton fans: some huge season 4 news has just dropped.

While we’ve known the next instalment was coming for a while, we’ve been dying to know which Bridgerton sibling will take the lead. And now, Netflix has finally announced the news. Benedict Bridgerton, come on down.

In a post on their Instagram account, Netflix dropped the news with a video and a legendary caption: “BENEDICT BRIDGERTON HAS ENTERED THE CHAT!!! benedict’s story is coming next season on Bridgerton”.

“Benedict has always been a little lost — or free depending on the way you want to look at it. But now he’s trying to find something a bit more solid in himself,” Benedict actor Luke Thompson told Netflix’s TUDUM following the announcement.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes herself has also voiced her excitement about Benedict’s time to shine. “He’s a charming man who’s trying to find his way,” she told TUDUM. “He’s very delightful and funny. I’m excited for everybody to watch him.”

We have an official synopsis, and it reads: “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.” Who will be cast as the Lady in Silver? We can’t wait to find out.

Showrunner Jess Brownell had also teased that elements of the end of season 3 may point to the plot (and titular couple) of season 4, as well as opened up about the importance of Benedict exploring before stepping fully into the limelight.

“It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down,” she told TUDUM. “He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode.”

Bridgerton season 4 cast

Season 3 stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton have confirmed that they will be back for season 4, and we suspect a few more of the usual suspects will return.

Production has just begun on the fourth season, according to Forbes, but filming hasn’t started yet. So it’ll be a while before we get a trailer or release date update.
