‘Hits & Heroes’ Brings the First-Ever Marvel and Star Wars Channel to Disney+

Earlier this week, Disney announced that four new channels were coming to Disney+. Officially called Streams, the new streaming stations run 24/7 and are curated around common themes.

In September, Disney launched an ABC News 24/7 channel and Disney+ Playtime, a station dedicated to Disney Junior programming. According to Disney, the initial Streams have driven over 10 million hours of streaming from subscribers in the United States while providing an overall engagement lift.

After the successful soft launch, Disney+ introduced four more Streams. These included:

  • Hallowstream — A seasonal channel that will debut with Disney’s spookiest content.
  • Throwbacks — Pop-culture nostalgia.
  • Real Life — A lineup of traditional documentaries, biopics, and true stories.
  • Hits & Heroes — A compilation of action-packed stories from marquee brands and franchises, including Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars.

What Content Airs on ‘Hits & Heroes’

Now that the Streams have been up and running for a few days, we have a better understanding of what content will be showcased on each channel.

Hits & Heroes, which has been promoted as the flagship Stream, began its programming with Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and the first episode of The Mandalorian.

As expected, the channel leans heavily on Disney’s Marvel and Star Wars content, though the addition of Curse of the Black Pearl was a fun surprise.

Outside of Star Wars and Marvel, Hits & Heroes will also air Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Jungle Cruise, National Treasure, Doctor Who, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

All Eyes Will Be On Streams

While it remains to be seen how the new Streams are received, all eyes will be on Hits & Heroes. As the first-ever Marvel and Star Wars channel, the Stream has a real chance of creating another Disney distribution channel.
